Few bands rocked harder or heavier than the Sheffield outlaws Def Leppard. Powered by the unmistakable vocals of Joe Elliott, Def Leppard filled the gap left by Led Zeppelin. In 1984, Pyromania was only denied the US top slot by Michael Jackson’s all-conquering Thriller. But, just three years later, Hysteria took the band to the top of the charts on both sides of the Atlantic – eventually shifting an estimated 20 million copies of that album alone.
