WILLIE NELSON

WILLIE NELSON

Yesterday

(Help!, 1965)

The last of a dying breed, Willie was one of the outlaws who turned the country music establishment upside down in the 1970s. But even before then, he had proved himself a songwriter of note with offerings such as Crazy (for Patsy Cline) and Hello Walls (for Faron Young). It was alongside fellow maverick Waylon Jennings that Willie kickstarted the “outlaw country” movement, and since then he has worked alongside Bob Dylan, Ray Charles, Johnny Cash, Paul Simon, Julio Iglesias… In fact, most places there’s a microphone, you’ll find that Willie Nelson’s been there!
